How to Install WordPress on HostGator ( Step by Step Tutorial)
HostGator Offers different ways to install WordPress ( Manually or using QuickInstall).
The easiest and fastest way is using Quick Install Method.
By this method, you can Install WordPress in just 5 minutes.
So, let’s get started with Quick Install method
To install WordPress, you need to login to your HostGator Control Panel (cPanel).
You can find your cPanel link along with Username and Password in your Welcome Email sent by HostGator.
After Login to your Control Panel, Click on WordPress - 1 Click Installation under Popular Link section or, you can Click on QuickInstall button in Software Section (Both leads to same).
On the next page, drop-down and select the domain on which you want to install WordPress.
Here, you can also select the sub-directory of your domain (called Sub-Domain).
However, I would suggest keeping the Directory Box blank. This will allow you to install WordPress in root domains.
- Root Directory: readyforblog.com (recommended)
- Sub Directory: readyforblog.com/blog (not recommended)
Moreover, with HostGator Baby Plan or above plan you can add many domains (Addon Domains) as you want in a single hosting package.
Now Click on Next Button, and follow the below directions.
Here, you need to fill up the form with the following details as shown in the below Image.
- Blog Title: Enter the name of your blog or Website. This will appear in the Header of your site. But, don’t worry. You can change it later.
- Admin User: This will be your username for WordPress login. I would suggest Choose the secure name that is easy to remember for you. Don’t use ‘admin’ as your username. Rather you can use your email Id or your Nickname.
- Your First Name
- Your Last name
- Admin Email: Enter your email address to get WordPress Login Details. Make sure it is working.
Now check the two boxes available and click on Install Now button.
While installing WordPress, HostGator team might try to upsell WordPress themes or paid services.
I would suggest you don’t accept such services.
Within a few minutes, your installation will be completed, and you will get WordPress Login details (Username and Password) of your site.
Don’t get shocked. That is not my original Username and password. Ha Ha Ha.
You too, keep it secure.
However, for now, your site may show only “A coming soon” page.
Now, login to WordPress Dashboard by going to “yourdomain.com/wp-admin,” and launch your site.
Note: Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.
Congratulation, you have successfully installed and launched your WordPress blog.
